More and more malicious code to Android
Android enjoys enormous popularity not only among users but also among cybercriminals. Experts at G Data indicate that only the first quarter of this year identified 440 000 new pieces of malicious code directed against for Android. This is by 6.4% more than in the previous quarter.
Such a number of malicious code should not be surprising. It is well known that the more popular software, the more often on dating take it cybercriminals. Meanwhile, in the US until half the population uses smartphones and tablets while conducting banking transactions and online shopping are in 78% of cases was performed using mobile devices. This is a huge group of potential victims, of which a significant part uses just with Android. Experts say that about 50% of malicious code to Android was created precisely in order to steal from users of the system. Criminals know that you need to attack the platform with the largest number of users, and the fact that Android is an open source system, having many different versions makes it much easier target - says Andy Hayter from G DATA. One major problem is the behavior of the users themselves who are trying to protect their mobile devices. The same people who care about the security of desktops not see a need for smartphones or tablets.
